ASHLAND MUSICAL VARIETY SHOW DELAYED ONE YEAR
Ashland, VA–The producers, directors and music directors of the Ashland Music Variety Show, sponsored by the Hanover Arts & Activities Center, announce that the next Show will take place April 2, 3, & 4, 2020, instead of 2019.
Blackwell Auditorium, on the campus of Randolph-Macon College, is going to be renovated with exciting new construction that will include a new Black Box Theatre, studios, offices and some new areas for Blackwell.
Blackwell Auditorium will be restored to its orginal style with an orchestra pit and new sound and lights. All of this is very exciting for the college and the community.
The leadership team of the Show appreciates how the faculty, staff, and administration at the college has generously worked with the Show since 1982—making it possible for over 400 people to participate in each Show. We could not do this Show with out the support and generousity of R-MC and Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church—which provides the backstage space for the large cast.
After construction is complete, the Show can easily go on, with rehearsals and performances, that will not conflict with drama and musical instruction and performances of the college.
We know that there will be some disappointed cast members, as well as our faithful audience members who attend each Show. We ask your patience and understanding, as we all adjust to this big change in our calendars and planning.
The Ashland Musical Variety Show is an important fundraiser fot the Hanover Arts & Activities Center. Without the income from the show in 2019, the Center will be challenged to keep the lights on. Please consider making a donation to the Center in lieu of tickets to the Show in 2019.
Meanwhile, please share your show ideas and suggestions with Producers/Directors—Lorie Foley and Sue Watson and/or Music Directors—Fred Horn, Carter Flippo and Section Music Leader—Jim Jones. Thank you for helping us adjust to this change.
