Camp Bloom Winter Wonderland Workshop
2020 was an exciting year for Camp Bloom with the return of the week-long summer camp, an August “mini-camp”, two after-school class series, and a weekend holiday gift-making workshop. Sooooooooooo…we’re kicking things off for 2021, and we hope you will join us!
Two “Winter Wonderland” workshops will be offered for your convenience on either Thursday, January 28th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. OR Saturday, January 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. Each craft or activity we do will use a different artistic technique and material, and each will allow participants to explore and appreciate the natural world around us in new ways. These sessions are most enjoyable for kids in grades 3-8. Multiple Covid protocols are in place for the health of all participants.
Likely activities include:
-creating fresh flower arrangements in a wintery palette of ice blue, snow white, and glittering silver,
-crafting unusual 3-D paper snowflakes,
-remembering our feathered friends with charming Cheerio bird treats to hang outdoors, and…
-frosting glass cylinder vases with epsom salts to create candle luminaries
Come to the Center and celebrate a Winter Wonderland with us!
Cost per camper is $60. We must register five campers to hold the workshop; no more than 8 campers can register. Camp Bloom events do usually fill quickly, so grab a friend and register soon!
Please note our cancellation policy: Registrations cancelled less than five days prior to the workshop will receive a 50% refund due to advance purchase of materials. If a new camper can be found for your cancellation, you will be refunded 100%.
Projects may differ from those listed due to supply availability…or a cooler idea coming up!

“My girls absolutely loved Camp Bloom!! Every day they came home with some sort of fresh flower arrangement or flower-themed craft. I don’t know how they did everything they did in just three hours a day.
Everything Andrea and her sisters did was top-notch! It was a very well thought out and well done camp. My girls are ready to go back now! They blew my mind with all the activities, and opportunities for the girls.”

Tunes on the Tracks in Partnership with Ashland Theatre
Visit www.tunesonthetracks.com to get your tickets today!
Ashland Theatre and Hanover Arts & Activities Center have announced a new outdoor concert series called “Tunes on the Tracks.” With a kickoff date of Saturday, August 29, the live shows are planned for every other Saturday afternoon through the end of October.
What should customers expect at each event?
This family-friendly outdoor concert series will be held on the front lawn of the Hanover Arts and Activities Center, right on the railroad tracks. Each ticket provides admittance for up to five people who will be seated in a dedicated 10’x10’ viewing area. Concessions will be available and will include snacks, soft drinks, and adult (alcoholic) beverages. Patrons are expected to stay within their designated spot except when visiting the restroom or the concession area. Each concert should last about 90 minutes to two hours.
What type of music will be showcased?
Tunes on the Tracks will feature some of the area’s finest local bands, playing music across multiple genres including rock, soul, country, folk, and bluegrass.
Who would enjoy the events?
Plan to bring the whole family! All ages are welcome, although valid photo IDs will be required to purchase or consume alcohol.
How did this collaboration come together?
Ashland Theatre and Hanover Arts & Activities Center are facing many of the same challenges trying to operate safely during the pandemic. With outdoor dining and drive-in movies drawing people back to the community again, each organization realized that customers still feel more comfortable gathering outside rather than indoors. Creating a new event series was made easier by combining the experience and staff of both businesses.
Isn’t Ashland a wonderful community for this type of creativity?
Camp Bloom Fall for Flowers
Camp Bloom, Jr. is back! Join Andrea Ferment, owner of Honeygirl Flowers, as she pairs with the Center in our quest to create after-school arts programming for the Hanover Community.
“Fall for Flowers” will be held on four consecutive Thursdays in October from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Campers will explore the beauty of the flowers, the trees, and the natural abundance of the Fall season in a series of fun crafts and activities. Each craft or activity will use a different artistic technique and material, and each will allow participants to explore and appreciate the natural world around us in new ways. Most of these classes will also feature short presentations related to the crafts given by local artists and experts. These sessions are most enjoyable for kids in grades 3-8.
Likely activities include:
-preserving fall leaves in glycerine to create colorful, long-lasting artwork with them
-crafting pretty, delicious edible chocolate flowers to top frosted cupcakes
-making gorgeous, air-dry clay bowls using real leaves as the templates
-making stunning, fresh flower headbands and earrings and modeling them in an outdoor photo shoot
Come to the Center to welcome Fall with us!
Class dates are four Thursdays in October: the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and29th. Cost per camper for all four dates is $80. We must register five campers to hold the classes; no more than 10 campers can register. Camp Bloom events do usually fill quickly, so grab a friend and register soon!
Attendees must commit to attending/paying for all four sessions due to the need to purchase and prep materials in advance. If an absence is necessary, a friend or relative can attend instead.

Camp Bloom: Bloom where you are planted!
July 6-July 10. 9AM-12PM
Join Andrea Ferment, owner of Honeygirl Flowers, at the Hanover Arts and Activities Center for the return of Camp Bloom, a week of flower fun! In this second year, sessions will run the week of July 6th from 9 a.m.-noon. Register soon, because this year we are limiting campers to 7 lucky kids, and camp will fill up fast! Campers (rising third through eighth-graders) will learn the basics of creating beautiful fresh flower arrangements, of course, but flowers can be used for so much more!
We will create:
-
fresh flower wristlets; graceful centerpieces for our own homes and for Ashland restaurants; mini-arrangements to add to tabletop vignettes; floating flower arrangements; fresh flower pieces for our hair; bouquets to cheer local nursing home residents; and more…
-
clay bowls and jewelry impressed with floral stamps and natural material; leaf prints; giant paper flowers; hand-painted vases; pop art flowers created from recycled materials; long-lasting wreaths; and more…
We will also delve into the science of flowers by learning how to identify different types of bark and leaves, learning about their functions for plant health, and using that knowledge in art projects to appreciate their beauty, too!
We may also leave the Center behind for several walking field trips to local gardens and businesses, and we will hear from local experts and business owners about how they work with flowers.
