All proceeds go to repair our 153-year-old building’s roof.

Please donate anything you might have to the yard sale
Consider renting a space for $15.00 to sell your own treasures.

Sharon Stiles winner of Hanover’s Spirit of Volunteerism Award

Sharon Stiles, President of the Board of Directors, Hanover Arts and Activities Center, is the winner of this years Hanover’s Spirit of One Volunteerism Award. Twenty people were nominated for this award and we are very proud to have Sharon win. Outside of Sharon’s work at the Center she is also involved with the YMCA Bright Beginnings program, Roots & Shoots at Henry Clay Elementary School, Fork Church in Beaverdam, Gandy’s Book Faire and Book Swap and the Ashland Garden Club. Sharon has also been actively involved with Hanover’s Habitat for Humanity, Ashland Little League (including organizing Opening Day Festivities), and PTAs at both Henry Clay and Gandy Elementary Programs, where she has organized many programs.The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative sponsored this award and in Sharon’s honor made a donation to the Center. This donation will be used for the financial aid for the Childrens Theater programs.

New Center Executive Director

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Hanover Arts & Activities Center, we would like to welcome Tayloe Moore as the new Executive Director. Tayloe is an Ashlander who shares a love of the Center that so many of you also share. She also previously served as the very first Executive Director of The Center for13 years.

Faith Boyle will remain onboard until the end of April 2012 to ensure a smooth transition. Faith has given 8 wonderful years of dedicated service to the Center, and she will be truly missed. We wish her the best in her future pursuits.

Children’s Summer Theatre Camp – Registration now open

Come join us for a fast paced, fun learning experience for 3 weeks this summer. The Hanover Arts & Activities Center is offering a 3-Week Camp for rising 1^st through rising 5^th graders. No auditions required to participate in this camp. Participants will take fun classes in acting, improv, music, dance, makeup and more! We are accepting registrations now. Be sure to register early so that you are assured a spot in our summer theatre camp. For more information, click here.

The 3-Week Theatre Camp runs July 9 through July 26, 2012 (Monday through Thursday from 12:00 – 2:30pm). The Camp Showcase finale is scheduled for Friday, July 27, 2012 at 7:00pm. As a bonus, the students will learn a musical number from “Guys & Dolls” and will be given an opportunity to perform in the stage production of “Guys & Dolls” on August 10, 11 and 12, 2012.

The day couldn’t have been more beautiful for the 34th Ashland Railroad Run and Green Fair. Thanks to all of our sponsors!

The race results for the 10K can be found by clicking here. As a test this year we did time the 5K unofficially and the results were posted at the race. The winners for the Kids 1 mile fun run are as followers: Boys, first place is Zach Chessor, second place is Daniel Beatty and third place is Brody Webb. The Girls, first place is Lindsey Hair, second place Erica Cooper and third place is Mary- Finan Mudd. Good Work!

Go Green! The 2012 Green Fair is coming to The Center April 21, 2012

Remember to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. How is the Center green? In conjunction with our 34th annual 2012 Railroad Run, we will once again features a Green Fair – free to the public. This year’s Green Fair will be Saturday, April 21, 2012. Vendors who support green/organic initiatives are being solicited. Click here to download a Green Fair vendor form. Our race is a Virginia Green event, certified by the Virginia Deparment of Environmental Quality. Clicking on the Virginia Green link will feature lots of photos from the 2011 Ashland Railroad Run.

How else is the Center Green? In addition to hosting the Green Fair, we use recycled products – copy paper, hand towels, and tissue. We recycle at our events, and we collect aluminum cans for Habitat for Humanity. If you have CFL (compact fluoresent light bulbs), we have a collection bin just inside the ramp door at the Center, and we are happy to recycle your bulbs – they must not go in the landfill. As a fundraiser, we recycle ink cartridges from your desktop prints (for cash).

Ghosts, goblins and ghouls of all ages are invited to gather at the Hanover Arts and Activities Center for a Spooktacular fun free family event on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011.

The doors to the Center will creak open to welcome all starting at 6:30 p.m. as trick or treaters begin to roam the streets of Ashland.

The Center will echo with the sounds of the Hanover Concert Band’s Classical Spooky Music Concert. According to long-time Center board member Paige Christy, “What really highlights the whole evening is the eerie and haunting music being performed by the Hanover Concert Band. They do such a good job and really get into the spirit of the spookiness to create the perfect atmosphere for the evening.” While at the Center families can enjoy free apple cider and baked goods and vote for the best carved pumpkins.
